There are some skincare products that are cult classics for a reason, and Dr. Dennis Gross’s Daily Peel Pads are one of them.
These peel pads are a daily dose of gentle exfoliation that even my sometimes-sensitive skin can tolerate well.
And recently they released a three-step kit that includes not only the peel pads, but also their AHA/BHA Daily Cleansing Gel, and the Alpha Beta Daily Moisturizer.
I was recently sent this kit to try and wanted to share my honest thoughts.
To me, this kit is the perfect starting point for someone who wants to start to up their skincare game in the form of introducing regular exfoliation.
The Daily Peel Pads provide the perfect way to lightly exfoliate your skin with a combination of alpha and beta hydroxy acids, and give you a good glow. I’m serious—I do notice my skin has a radiance right after using this that it doesn’t typically have.
The peel pads are a two-step process.
The first step is a pad containing the acids. After cleansing, wait until your skin is dry and then apply this and wait two minutes. The acids will get to work in cutting through dead skin cells, and you might feel a slight tingle.
Then you swipe the second pad over your face. This one contains a neutralizing ingredient that stops the acids from continuing to exfoliate. It also has hydrating ingredients that help to boost the skin’s moisture levels.
Every 24 hours or so, dead skin builds up on the surface of your skin, which can accentuate fine lines or cause buildup in pores. One way to keep these signs from progressing is to exfoliate in a way that is beneficial to your skin.
According to Dr. Gross, they’ve come up with “a proprietary blend of AHA/BHAs in a unique formulation that delivers this powerful cocktail of actives to where the skin needs it most.”
Now listen, not every person’s skin needs a daily exfoliation, and I’m a big believer in talking with a skincare professional—whether a dermatologist or experienced facialist—to determine what your skin specifically needs, before going full-in on a routine that could potentially irritate your skin.
But if you’re looking to jump start an anti-aging routine, this is a great place to start. The Universal Daily Peel Pads are gentle enough for me to use 3-4 times a week, and I’ve found that’s my sweet spot to get the benefit of the exfoliation, without any irritation or stripping of my skin barrier.
Well, for me, yes!
Like I said, they have been an amazing addition to my routine. I know when I use it, my skin will first and foremost feel clean and fresh, but also show an immediate glow, which to me is the proof I need to go back.
But also, these pads have a long list of fans. Check out the gallery on the bottom of this page to see some pretty amazing Before and Afters that speak for themselves.
Again, chat with your own skincare professional, but here’s how I use mine.
At night, I double cleanse, let my skin dry, and use these pads in place of a toner. Then I follow up with a simple moisturizer and my skin is set. If you’re using a vitamin A product like Retin A, tretinoin, or even an over-the-counter retinol, I would ask a skincare professional first to make sure you’re not using too many potentially-irritating ingredients at once.
I’m so excited that Dr. Dennis Gross came out with their 3-Step Daily Essentials Kit that includes the cleanser, pads and moisturizer all in one box.
Don’t sleep on this moisturizer either; it hydrates so well, and yet is still so lightweight. I find myself using it even when I’m not using the peel pads, because it makes my skin that soft.
This whole kit pretty much a routine in a box, but don’t forget to add SPF during the day!
