…so you know I was super excited to get my greedy little paws on some offerings from Clark’s Botanicals that have garnered cult-like adoration.
Before I get into the products, you might want to read up on the backstory of the line, which is impressive in and of itself. The founder of Clark’s, Francesco Clark, suffered a spinal cord injury in a swimming pool diving accident back in 2002, and lost not only his ability to walk, but also his ability to sweat. This led to chronic breakouts and ended up inspiring him to create his own, botanically-based formulas that not only perform, but also help it to glow. Blending Western science with homeopathy, these products not only perform, but also soothe and nurture the skin with natural ingredients.
What I appreciate about this line is that it’s based around botanical formulations, and is considered to be one of the safer luxury skin care lines. This line is free of parabens, sulfates and even gluten, and also does not employ animal testing. It’s critical to me that my products meet most of these standards, so these products fall right in line with my beauty philosophy!
This formula is a best-seller, and for good reason! This cream is thicker in consistency and is a great product for keeping your skin feeling moisturized and smooth. It’s recommended for dry, aging and/or stressed skin, but those with normal skin will also love this for its soothing properties. With glycolic acid as one of the main ingredients, you can count on this cream to help keep your skin exfoliated with regular use. The added algae and yeast extracts also help to soften the appearance of fine lines. If you’re just dipping your toes into anti-aging skin care, this is a great way to start!
This mask is designed to be used on clean skin, and can be left on anywhere from just 5 minutes to overnight, depending on the level of moisture you want. It’s intended for dry or stressed skin, or skin that is “environmentally stressed” (think: skin exposed regularly to pollutants or irritants). As far as active ingredients, this formulation has comfrey root extract to help soothe inflammation, and Japanese green tea for antioxidant benefits. It also has jasmine absolute to balance out stressed skin.
This serum is a lightweight, silky formulation that soaks into the eye area and eases fine lines with the help of the powerful anti-aging ingredient, retinol. What I love about this is that it can be used during the daytime, and it doesn’t cake up under concealer or makeup. Lots of people like to use their retinol at night only, and you can definitely just use it before bed if that’s the case for you, but I’ve used it both AM and PM with great results! For an added dose of moisture, layer another eye cream on top of this to really lock in the moisture and anti-aging benefits.
If you’re looking for solid performance based in safer ingredients, Clark’s Botanicals are definitely worth a check. Sign up for their newsletter on their site and keep an eye out for some awesome specials they run through QVC as well!
