It was around this time last year that I decided I wanted a refresh for my blog.

While I liked my old site just fine, I thought it was time for a refresh, to switch to something that felt more in line with the things I was writing–sometimes serious, sometimes frivolous, always and unapologetically (and sometimes weirdly) me.

Most of all, I wanted something more. To make you feel like you weren’t just coming to a generic site with some decent-looking pictures and nothing but vapid commentary. I wanted to achieve the difficult task of capturing my voice–somehow–on a computer screen.

Enter the amazing Annie from Nanam.co. Check out her own website and you can see immediately that this is someone who knows that stories are told with words, yes, but also visually. Also with a feeling.

More than anything, I was so grateful that Annie really spent time walking me through the process of understanding what it is I wanted readers to feel when they stopped by.

And here’s what we came up with: I want them–I want you–to feel welcome. To feel like you’re getting good, useful information. To like you’re getting the real me. Because you are!

I pour my heart into my work. I labor over my words. I chase topics I feel are useful, valuable, or at the very least entertaining in some way.

I want to be the one you come to when you want a real story about the madness and the beauty of motherhood; a resource for when you want an expert’s advice on a parenting issue; a place to stop when you just want to talk about beauty products or simple style… or as I like to call it, “All the pretty stuff.”
