Let’s talk luxury skincare that works. I’ve been using products from Bynacht for months now, and I had to do another quick review of the line, because these products are just that good.
First things first: Is luxury skincare worth the price tag? That’s the question I know I’ve asked about certain lines; and the answer is, yes, if it actually works.
Bynacht is one of those rare lines that looks amazing on your countertop, feels incredible on application, and also makes my skin super happy when I use it.
Founder Jessica Hoyer, who I interviewed on my podcast last year, says the line was inspired by a need to make the most of the night (therefore, the “nacht” in the name, which is German for “night.”)
Having experienced the physical and mental downsides of a job in sales that had her traveling the world—and therefore through various time zones—on a regular basis, Jessica had an appreciation for a good night’s sleep. And when she started to do research on how the skin heals itself at night, she saw an opening in the market for products that could do some heavy lifting of repairing the skin while you sleep.
Want to hear the backstory on the brand from the founder herself? Jessica Hoyer and I talk amazing skin; why good sleep matters; how she launched a brand with two young kids; and the je ne sais quoi about European women.
As far as the skincare items from the line, there’s no doubt the Reverse Sun Radical Recovery Serum is my ace.
I recently used a mint scrub on my face (Note: DO NOT USE A MINT SCRUB ON YOUR FACE), and when I got out of the shower my skin was screaming red. I applied my Tower28 SOS Spray and then this serum, and within an hour my skin was back to normal. It was insane. So insane, I DM’d Jessica immediately to tell her all about it.
This is a serum to reach for when you want to calm irritation, add a healthy dose of antioxidants, and overall plump things up.
The consistency of this serum is pretty amazing, too—a thick, pillowy formula that has an uncommon (in a good way!) viscosity for a serum; and yes, it soaks in like a dream.
As far as luxury skincare, it can be a gamble: Is it really worth the money? In this case, I can say it is. A bottle of this should last 3-4 months if used nightly. You only need a small amount—about the size of two peas—to cover your whole face, neck and chest.
My other favorite from the line, which I’ve posted a ton about on Instagram, is their Perfect Night Sleep Balm. Ask Andrew—I slather this on my wrists, temples, and behind the base of my ears nightly while we watch Mad Men, and the aromatherapy ingredients (lavender, ylang ylang flower, and lemon balm in a base of shea butter, for easy blendability) help kick off an immediate sense of peace and ease.
I also wash my feet before bed and apply this to the arches of my feet, which Jessica suggested when I interviewed her, for extra relaxation.
Now I know what you’re thinking; does aromatherapy even work?
Yes, yes, YES. This works for me. I don’t know the science behind the permeability of these particular ingredients, or how aromatherapy truly triggers relaxation, but my first-hand experience with this blend is that absolutely instills a sense of calm in me.
I believe in thoroughly and extensively testing a product before writing about it, so I gave these two a go first; but next I’m going to be trying out the Hypercharged Glass Skin Serum, which is already finding a cultlike following among skincare junkies. So stay tuned for that review soon!
As always, I’d love to hear from you! Drop me a comment and let me know if you have any questions about these products, or hit me up on Instagram. See you soon!
