Friends! It’s high time we had a little personal catch-up.
School’s been out here for about three weeks now, and we are firmly into our summer schedule—or lack thereof.
My daughter did one camp one week, my son did one another week, and our 5-year-old… she misses out for now.
All camps start around the same time, so rather than stress myself out about getting all of them to different camp locations at the same time, I’m staggering camps this year. The added bonus is that it gives me some special alone time with the other kids while the other is in camp. Also, I’m lazy and don’t want to schedule too many commitments where I have to rush out the door in the morning.
So parents—what’s your strategy for summer camps? Do you like to keep them scheduled and busy, or do you prefer a more relaxed approach to the summer?
Okay, other things… Where my fellow dance moms at?!
Like, I know there are entire TV shows dedicated to how crazy competitive dance life is, and lemme tell ya… while we do not have the drama that show has, it is definitely an insanely busy sport. I was just not prepared.
We are headed out this week for my daughter’s national dance competition in Charleston, South Carolina, and so I’m headed upstairs as soon as I finish this to get everyone packed. We’re staying in a house for the week rather than a hotel, so I’ll be able to do laundry—thank goodness! But I’m terrified I’m going to forget a part of one of her six costumes and have a breakdown in the convention center in Charleston. Pray for me! I’m consuming all the Prima CBD lately to keep myself level. (It’s a great formulation.)
Any other dance parents out there? Send me all your advice and good vibes, please. I know you know this very unique type of stress.
Other news… I put my hosting hat back on a couple weeks ago.
I hosted an international travel show here in Orlando where I talked in front of 4600 people live every day for three days. !!!
Looking out into the sea of tables from the podium was… humbling. Ha! I always say, working in TV, I was used to talking to robots (i.e. the cameras), not real people. So it’s always a shock to look out and see faces looking right back at you when you host live events. But! I got through it and it was such a blast to be around other TV and production professionals for a little while.
Other formerly full-time working women who switched to stay-at-home when they had kids can relate, I’m sure: There’s something invigorating about getting back into the game after you’ve spent years away from your profession. It’s further proof to me that the career breaks we take in the name of motherhood don’t have to set us back, but rather direct our path to something else that can be just as rewarding.
Other than that, you’ve been seeing lots of beauty content on the blog and social lately. I’m so happy about this. Beauty is my other passion, outside news and current events. So I’m thrilled to be partnering with some brands that I love to show you some new things I’m loving.
Off to pack and prepare! Let me know on IG what you’re up to lately… DM me!
