The lip combo I reach for the most, no matter what I’m wearing day or night, is a classic nude lip. There’s something about how it’s just as “undone” as it is “done” that works with every look.
Here are some favorite lip combos I’ve tried over time—from my 15 years working in television when I wore lipstick every day to today! Lots of years of trial and error here, guys.
For reference, my skin is light-medium to medium with olive undertones. I wear Bare Minerals Original Foundation in Medium Beige 12; Tower 28 SunnyDays in Mulholland; and Honest CCC in Dune.
Pillow Talk gets all the (much-deserved!) love when it comes to Charlotte Tilbury’s lip liners, but in my opinion, Supersize Me is the unsung hero of their nude offerings. It’s a bit deeper than Pillow Talk and therefore leaves a more defined line, but that doesn’t impact its ability to blend with just about anything.
This one blends so beautifully with both the Pillow Talk lipstick as well as Penelope Pink—my absolute favorite Charlotte Tilbury lipstick, hands down—or any other nude lip you can think of.
This liner has the most gorgeous and subtle brown undertone. But wait! I know this might scare you away, especially if you’re not into the 90s beauty resurgence we’re seeing (after all, those who lived it the first time around might be hesitant to go back ). It also has a balancing pink color that makes it just perfect.
And can I just say, the blendability of this formula is insane. It is like silk and applies with the lightest touch. Don’t press too hard when you use!
Charlotte Tilbury Penelope Pink; Madame Gabriela Sydney at 8AM; Chantecaille Jarul (no longer for sale but a similar shade HERE)
This was my go-to nude shade when I worked in TV news. It has just enough pigment to pick up on camera without reading overly deep, and it doesn’t read as overly peachy. On top of that, it pairs well with just about any nude or rose-colored lipstick you can think of.
