The weekends on We Gotta Talk are all about bringing you the latest on health and beauty, and I’ve got a great post for you today on a device I just tried that’s focused on improving the air you breathe every day.
Here’s something that shocked me: Did you know that the quality of the indoor air can be more damaging to your health than polluted outdoor air? (Source.)
Think about it: We spend considerably more time indoors than outdoors these days, and with research showing that furniture, house paint, carpet and other items in the home can “off-gas”, it’s kind of scary thinking of what we could be breathing in our own homes.
That’s why I was excited when Clarifion, a company that makes a portable ionizing indoor air purifier, reached out to work together. As you know from my posts during our Health Trends week, I’m always looking at ways to keep exposure to unnecessary elements down for our family.
Here’s the simple explanation: The Clarifion is a small “plug and play” ionizing air purifier which plugs right into a standard outlet. It’s small—smaller than I expected!—measuring about 2.5” x 3.5”, and is pretty nondescript design-wise, a simple white plastic rectangle.
The Clarifion works by emitting negatively-charged ions, which according to their website, “electrifies” the air, allowing polluting particles to stick to the nearest surface. (More on what this means for clean-up later.)
The box says this purifies air in a 5 x 5 meter area, which is around 270 square feet. It’s basically a one-room solution for air purification. Unless you’re in a small studio apartment, chances are, you’ll have to either move this device or have several on hand if you want continuous air purification in several rooms at once.
Another great thing about this device is that it requires no filter or upkeep, though on their website they do recommend wiping down or sweeping the area near the device after a period of time. This will help to remove any air pollutants that have collected nearby that have effectively been “removed” by the device.
While I can’t provide scientific evidence of its effectiveness, I can tell you a couple things after having my Clarifion plugged into the wall in our master bedroom for about a week.
I swear the air feels clearer in the space where it sits. While I can’t quantify this, I feel the air feels fresher in our master bedroom.
There is no sound, and the light blue glow almost acts as a dim nightlight.
I’m so excited that Clarifion is offering my readers a discount code to try this out for yourself!
Use code SONNI20 for 20% off your order!
If you try it out, I suggest plugging it in in a highly-trafficked area of the house where you want a little extra freshness. I may also grab up a few for the kids’ rooms, since they’re so easy to use.
