…or how I am in total awe of salad kits, or how I’m hiding in the closet with a tub of Breyers Cookie Dough, I’m (sometimes) talking about fashion.
Let me clarify: I am not talking about Fashion, capital “F.” I am talking about fashion that you can wear around in your daily life while still doing all of the above, also known as “Surviving Motherhood.”
So. Fashion! Style! Whatever you want to call it! Let’s talk more about some pieces I’ve been getting wear out of lately.
Andrew and I have been booking dates during the daytime hours, because the baby has decided all of a sudden that she will not fall asleep for anyone but me. Case in point: For his birthday recently, we did one of those escape rooms, where you have to find and unlock clues to get out. SO FUN. We’d been wanting to do it for a long time, and I can say, it was awesome! Highly recommend.
Anyhow, since we are trudging around in the hot Florida sun during these daytime dates, and I don’t want to be overly casual but also don’t want to sweat my top three layers of skin off, I have to find pieces that are cute, but also airy and simple to wear.
Here are a few ideas for those day dates you have coming up, whether you’re locking yourself alone in a room with your sweetie or not.
I love the way a dainty floral print looks with denim, or an otherwise casual bottom piece. I found this top at Nordstrom recently and love the pale pink, paired with the tiny florals and leopard spots. It’s perfect for a daytime outing because you can dress it up with heels and nicer jeans, or you can throw it on with cutoff denim like I did here and it goes just as well. I’m wearing it here with a pair of jeans from my favorite line ever, Universal Thread, from Target. They’re under $20 and fit just as well as the high-end denim shorts that I own.
The length of these dresses makes it immediately a bit more casual than a longer dress, and perfect for daytime. I think this silhouette is so classic, but also playful. I love these options below!
TRY THESE
I’m on record as being a huge fan of the jumpsuit in general, but I think they play especially well during the daytime, and look just as good with a cute pair of sneakers as they do with heels.
