Friends! I just wrapped my interview with doctor of education and parenting coach Dr. Gertrude Lyons, and it was transformative.
When I first planned on talking about maternal mental health and mom rage, I thought we’d center the discussion on tactics to mitigate things happening around or outside of us; instead, what we all got with the amazing Gertrude was a way of parenting that has us looking inward first.
That’s not to say this interview isn’t packed full of takeaways on how to check our mom rage at the door; how to communicate better with our kids; how to deal with postpartum mood issues and more… because it is!
But it also turned into a conversation about some of the emotional work we can do inside ourselves to make our mothering journeys a little easier.
I just adored my time with Gertrude. Here’s a little more of what we cover:
Mom rage
How to connect with our kids at every age
How our mothers impact the way we parent
Tactics to take us out of “reaction mode”
How to have conversations with your kids to really know what they’re thinking
Dealing with postpartum anxiety
Healing ourselves first to be better mothers
Check out the full video below, and stay tuned for the podcast version which comes out tomorrow!
