It’s true. That’s why I didn’t post as planned yesterday. Special shoutout to my kids for taking what started off as pink eye and mixin’ it all up with some good stuff so that when it finally landed on me, it’s some sort of viral punch bowl consisting of postnasal drip, raging cough, pounding headache and a weird back pain thingy. Oh, and bronchitis.
Anyhow, I finally have some pictures of the new house to share!
See what that is? That’s an office! I finally have an office! One that my kids love to run into screaming and half-naked while I’m interviewing people… But still, an office!
I’ll be putting up the rest of the pictures soon, so keep it here!
Meantime, some cool things from around the web.
Loved this post on one of my favorite blogs, Cup of Jo. As you know, I’m all about transparency in motherhood (at least relating to my own experiences), so I always give a slow clap when I read pieces that encourage honest dialogue about all the facets of motherhood–including the great and the not-so-great.
The doula who is interviewed for this piece walks you through some great advice on pregnancy, to birth, to the early days of motherhood. Bookmark it if you’re in that chapter, or send it along to someone who is!
I’ve written before about what I call finding “pockets of peace” in my days–essential, quick breaks from the harried marathon of parenting–to get into a good headspace again; and this article on Parents.com reminded me of that same concept.
In this article you’ll find some quick, concrete ideas to find your pockets of peace–no babysitter required! (And one involves hugging yourself. I mean, that’s kind of awesome, right?)
Yes, fed is best; but there is absolutely no reason to discourage women from attempting to breastfeed. Without additional commentary or editorializing, I’m just going to leave this here and request that you leave any (respectful) feedback and thoughts in the Comments section of this post. The news lady in me loves a good discussion on current events!
I have always considered myself a bit of an intrepid reporter, so I’m glad that my internet scouring can now reveal that they are officially a thing. Have I been out of the game that long (or am I that old) that this kind of makes me blush?
Do we think she looks like auntie, or no?
Guys, are you tired of me talking about my total and utter obsession with all things Universal Thread yet? Because it’s not going to stop anytime soon. Seriously, every time I go into Target I end up picking up something else from the line, from tanks to jean shorts to shoes. I’m actually planning on doing a dedicated post on some of my favorites from the line, but these sandals in particular have been in heavy rotation for me. I wear them with everything from jean skirts to jeans shorts to jumpsuits.
Buy them! You won’t regret it! (Promise.)
Okay, off to medicate! Here’s to hoping that it’s okay to mix 4 over-the-counter products with an antibiotic!
