Since you know I am always on the hunt for great beauty products, I try tons and tons of stuff. That means some misses, but also some hits–like, seriously great products that for one reason or another, I forget to mention on social media.
So, On My Vanity will feature three products each month that I’ve been using regularly and loving. All have undergone my (non-scientific) process of review and have been deemed to be Pretty Freakin’ Great by yours truly.
(It’s also further justification for my continual purchasing of extraneous beauty products. Therefore, helpful and indulgent. Genius, right? Right.)
If you know me, you know my affinity for a good SPF product. There is no more-used product in my routine than my SPF creams and lotions. When you live in Florida, you always have a reason to try new formulations.
This is one I just discovered and have been using daily.
Here’s a helpful post I did a while back about why I like physical sunblocks rather than chemical sunscreens.
Use it alone or under makeup; I do both and it works well as a makeup base, too!
I’ve been loving everything in this line lately, and this product is no different!
Perfect for a winter toner, this formula is gentle and replenishing. I swipe it on with a cotton pad after cleansing and it immediately gives my skin a boost of moisture and preps it for my daily moisturizer or SPF.
I also interviewed the amazing owner, Indie Lee herself, about her inspirational journey, on my podcast. Her backstory is pretty incredible. Diagnosed with a brain tumor and told that she could potentially only have months to live, Indie began a mission to clean out all the things she put in or on her body, including her skincare. The result was this incredible line, which is now carried in hundreds of stores worldwide.
I am obsessed with everything good bacteria. This isn’t a pro-biotic product, but rather a prebiotic, which means that it feeds your skin microbiome, therefore encouraging the growth of good bacteria on your skin that heals it and makes it healthier.
I’ve been using Aleavia’s products on and off for quite a while now; here’s my review of the brand and what it’s all about.
I interviewed the founder of Aleavia, Kelly Graham, on my podcast as well, and much like other skincare brand founders, this line was started after a medical issue. She started this line after a battle with infertility. Her story is insane; I can’t wait to share it with you guys!
Kelly says this product also works for molluscum contagiosum, which parents may know unofficially as “the most disgusting skin condition EVER.”
When I add this step into my skincare routine at night in particular, I seriously wake up with skin that looks brighter and somehow healthier. I can’t describe it precisely, but there’s an extra glow and my skin tone even looks a bit smoother. I will always have this product in rotation on my vanity because of this.
