First things first: “Winter” is a relative term.
Living in Florida, 50 degrees is “intense cold” to us… but I haven’t always been a cold weather wimp!
Growing up in Pittsburgh, I (and my skin) am familiar with true winter weather, and how it can impact—i.e. dry out—skin. When the temperatures drop, your skin is the first thing to feel it.
Today let’s talk three products I reach for when the weather gets cold, and my skin gets thirsty—whether “cold” means 5 or 75 degrees to you!
Does it get any more reliable than good old CeraVe? I mean, if this label hasn’t been in your bathroom at least once in your life, you’re living on Mars.
This body cream (with a handy pump!) is the most basic, but amazingly moisturizing, body cream out there. And it’s fragrance-free, which is huge. Anyone with skin irritation or other issues knows, it’s always best to go Unscented for as little irritation as possible.
I was recently sent a sample of this body lotion to try, and I’m a huge fan of its light consistency but also its serious performance. You wouldn’t think a lotion so light would hydrate so well, but it does.
What’s unique about this formula versus a regular cream is that it also contains lactic acid, which helps to gently resurface the skin. So if you deal with redness or little bumps, this might be a good way to hydrate and exfoliate. Of note: This is a pretty heavily fragranced product, which I don’t love, but it does perform.
I’m a huge fan of Aleavia’s products. From their body and hand washes to this lotion, all of them are packed with pre-biotics, which are ingredients that feed a healthy skin biome.
I’ve been using their Orchid Prebiotic Lotion lately (currently sold out, but this Grapefruit Lemongrass is a good sub!), which is scented only with essential oil. It soaks right in like melted butter, leaving my skin so soothed.
The bonus is knowing that I’m helping to grow some good bacteria on my skin when I’m using it, too.

Wherever you’re spending the winter, here’s to hydrated, healthy skin!
