Wanted to check in, because it’s been a little while since my last post. I promise, this is about to change!
It’s been a week since we welcomed little Sicilia to our family, and so far, the big kids seem to absolutely love her! I’m sure it helped that we welcomed her by bringing home cupcakes and singing “Happy Birthday” to her, which the big kids absolutely loved. Anyone who brings them sugar gets a big thumbs up. 😀 No sign of any jealousy or frustration, not at least at this point.
There is one thing I have noticed that’s a bit different–the big kids seem to want me around all the time, and I think that’s due to the fact that they know the family dynamic has shifted a bit. But they are all snuggles and cuddles with their baby sister! It’s the cutest thing – Sammy goes up to her and smells her for head and kisses her, and Francesca sits next to her and talk to her. So far, so good on that front!
As far as the baby herself, she is a little eating and sleeping machine! I’m not sure if I just don’t remember, but I don’t think my first two slept this much for this well during the day. She can be counted on to wake up for nursing, then she usually goes right down for a nap afterward. I know that will change after the first few weeks, but I am enjoying the rest I get during those brief naps for now. I’m kind of in shock that she is sleeping this well and don’t want to jinx anything!
We had some newborn photos taken a couple of days ago, too. I’m glad we waited until she was five days old, because all of the weird newborn rashes and swelling went down, and she was much more chill during the whole session. I posted one pic here, and will share more when the final versions come in!
See you soon!
