Hi all! I can’t believe it—summer vacation is almost over.
I know we all say the same thing—“it goes so fast!”—but boy is that ever true.
Every year the speed at which the kids grow seems to ratchet up. Honestly, yesterday I was just changing diapers, now I’m forcing a reluctant 9.5 year old to slow dance with me in the living room to a chorus of, “You’re so cringe, Mom!” (But also with a smile, and still dancing with me anyway. Hmmmm… 😉
But seriously, what wacky space-time continuum does parenthood catapult you into where years feel like they go by in a blink?
I feel like it was just yesterday when some strange force propelled me from the couch early one random Wednesday morning five+ years ago to take a pregnancy test because I just knew something was different. Our little surprise baby, now in school full time. What?!
Anyhow, the summer has been fun! We took a trip to Pittsburgh to see my family and the kids spent almost the entire time at my parents’ house swinging on the tree swing, catching fireflies (such a novelty for Florida children!), and riding the tractor with my dad. True “best vacation ever” status (their words), confirming what I’ve long suspected—it’s the least fancy vacations that are truly the best. Give ‘em sunshine, grass, a playground and a splash in the pool, and life is great!
I’m doing a brand refresh! It’s so hard to capture a brand visually, to have it convey all the big feelings and intentions you have for it, and get it right. And I feel like as I’ve grown, this space naturally has, too. So I’m well into that and obcviously can’t wait to show you how it all turns out. A visual person I am not, so I had to bring in the pros for this one. Haha. Can’t wait for you to see it!
I’m also finding a lot of peace lately just being in the house. Ever go through a phase where you just want to stay inside and feather your nest a little? Relax? Watch TV? I made breakfast for myself the other day and just sat and watched TV while I ate and it felt like the world’s biggest luxury. So lots of those moments these days too—just chilling. It’s like my body and mind know that we’re getting geared up for busy days again and is demanding some preemptive rest. Ha.
So that’s it! A slow start to what’s bound to be a busy year. One I’m so grateful to be starting with this crew.
How are you? Ready for the school year? What else is going on?!
