This week is all about turning to the experts on how to find your style, but I wanted to share with you a few things that I always reach for to make me feel stylish, and more importantly, make me feel me. They might work for you, too!
I don’t tend to follow trends, and if you followed my blog a few weeks back you know I’m religious about cleaning out things that don’t spark joy anymore.
That’s why I’ve come to rely on some pieces that I turn to time and time again that are basic, chic, and always make me feel put together. Ready to come hang in my closet?!
I mean, is there a more classic basic than the black blazer? You’re not going to believe this, but this one has been in my closet, and I’ve worn it regularly, for almost ten years now! (And right now, it’s on sale for under $25.)
I bought it when I was still working in television, and over the years I’ve worn it over dresses, but these days it’s more likely to appear over a cute t-shirt and a great pair of jeans.
Why invest in a black blazer? Well, it’s one of those pieces that truly never goes out of style, and can immediately dress up a look. And I promise, if you find one whose fit you love, you’ll keep it in rotation for maybe a decade like me. 😉
I’ve linked some great options below!
Truly, I’m a t-shirt and jeans kinda gal, but that doesn’t mean that it’s always casual!
Higher-end basic t-shirts always look great with a pair of jeans or black pants and heels. Throw on some statement jewelry and you elevate the look even more.
This one is from one of my current favorites, Italic, but there are tons of other well-made and affordable t-shirt options, too. Check them out below.
There’s no piece in your closet that will get more wear than the perfect-fitting pair of jeans. Lately, I’m obsessed with Mother, a brand that has the perfect amount of stretch to hold everything in place, without veering too much into leggings territory.
I’m wearing the high-waisted pair below, but their Boyfriend jeans are also awesome.
Are you anything like me, in that the bigger the purse you carry, the more likely you are to fill it with a ton of crap? Yeah.
Enter the crossbody. This style bag is big enough to hold what I need and want, but not so big that it ends up being a glorified backpack. I love the soft buttery leather on this version and the red and gold accents that make it pop. I’ve worn it both dressed down, and dressed up.
Not sure if booties are still “in style,” per se, but you know what? They’re comfortable and cute and I feel good in them, and that’s what matters!
I also just added a pair of combat boots to my collection after my interview with model Jasmine Dustin and have been reaching for those, too. Check out the rest of her recs here!
I’m including them because they always bring just enough to a pair of jeans to elevate it a bit.
