As I said in Part One of this series, before we started on the organization of my closet, I went through my whole closet and purged all the items I didn’t want anymore. If you want tips on how to do this, I still love the KonMari Method tips best — check them out here). From there, the team from NEAT Method took over and reorganized what was left.
Today, I’m so excited to share more photos of the final look and also to let you in on an amazing giveaway I’m doing with the NEAT Method Orlando team to bring a little organization to your space!
Jeans went from folded in a drawer to folded on a shelf.
This was huge because they were taking up so much space in my drawer. It became difficult to keep them folded nicely in a drawer. The other benefit of having them out is that I can easily see them.
Added drawer dividers for things like leggings and shorts.
I had leggings nicely folded, but rolling them with the dividers to hold them in place has been a huge help.
Sweaters stored on high shelves, in boxes and folded
Living in Florida, I don’t wear heavy clothes for most of the year, but I like keeping them on hand so I can grab quickly if we travel to a colder spot. By putting sweaters on the top shelf folded (some in boxes, some on display) keeps them nearby, but out of sight enough that I don’t have to use precious hanging space to store them.
Organized purses and put them on display
Now I’m not a huge purse collector, so this small-ish setup works really well to organize what I have. Smaller clutches are stored in the slots, and the rest are on display on top.
The team will come in and give you an idea of how much time it could take. Plus, you’ll get an idea of how many organizational tools (dividers, boxes, etc.) you need.
This one sounds dramatic, haha, but what I mean by this is that you should be ready to purge unused or unwanted items and open up an otherwise private space to the team. They are so, so kind and realize that it’s a very personal thing to go through someone’s belongings. They are incredibly professional and trustworthy. Remember: They do this every day!
The number one benefit of having a more organized space is the peace it brings. You know where things are; you’re only keeping what you love; and most of all, things look beautiful! My closet has always been one of my favorite places to chill, and now, it’s even more so.
I’d say the most important thing is to bring a sense of readiness. It’s not easy opening up your most personal spaces to others, but the upside in my opinion is a method of organization that I could not have dreamed up on my own.
Another piece of advice is to know what vibe you want your space to have. For example, I wanted a sense of peace in my closet. To me, that meant prioritizing having family photos displayed prominently (moreso than accessories and bags, although we did a little of that too); having ambient lighting with some well-placed tabletop lams (see the photos in the gallery above!); and overall making my closet feel like another room—not just a storage space.
I can’t say highly enough, yes. This is a concierge-level service of closet organization, though. And while you don’t have to go in at this level to get organized (I know some fantastic one-person teams that also are amazing!), if you’re looking to be as hands-off as possible and leave your space in the hands of experts, you should absolutely check out NEAT Method.
Pros:
Everything taken care of, from organizing to folding
Organization tools like bins, labels and hangers that are cohesive looking
A team of people, which makes the process quicker
They have a comprehensive approach to organizing—looking at the space, brainstorming the best tools to use, then moving forward.
Cons:
Can be on the pricier side
If you’re particular about how you want things organized, you’ll want to stay close by and advise them as they work. I personally was open to their ideas, so I let them loose, but I know others might not feel the same.
