As an avowed beauty addict, I am always trying to justify the money I spend on products. Trying is the key word there. 😉

Sometimes it works when I find an amazing product that’s worth it; but when I buy what ends up being a dud, it’s a not so good feeling.

When I first learned about Beauty Pie, I was intrigued. It’s a way to try products made at the same labs other luxury beauty products are, but at a fraction of the cost. I resisted buying in for a while, but I just started a membership with them and wanted to share my initial thoughts.

So let’s talk about Beauty Pie, my honest thoughts on it, and what’s worth trying first.

What is Beauty Pie?

Beauty Pie is a luxury beauty “buyers’ club,” where you pay warehouse level prices for luxury beauty products. Think of it as Costco for luxury beauty!

They can offer these low prices because they work with labs across the world that manufacture other luxury beauty products. You may have heard of founder Marcia Kilgore before, and if not, this is a great read to give you more insight on her past five (!!!) companies, including Bliss, and why she was so passionate about bringing luxury beauty to the masses.

So Why Are Beauty Pie Products So Affordable?

Great question! You may feel suspicious of a beauty product that’s so low cost, but this is where the math comes in.

According to Beauty Pie, many brands factor into the cost of their product not only manufacturing, but also marketing, paying for celebrity spokespeople, PR costs and more.

With Beauty Pie, there’s no middle marketing man. These products come right from the warehouses to you, so you pay direct prices since all the middle men are cut out.

I’m Sold! So, How Does Beauty Pie Work?

You buy a membership for a flat price, and from there, you can shop the whole site for the lower costs, rather than the marked-up costs.

The cost is $59 a year, and they assign you a certain amount of dollars you can spend on their site. It seems complicated, but it’s not! Here is a great explainer on their site.

This is their Super Healthy Skin Body Polish. As you can see, the Typical Price (if you were buying this exact formula under a brand name, or if you were shopping the site as a non-member), is $50. But after you buy the yearly membership, all you’ll pay is $16.95. That $16.95 is deducted from your yearly total you get to spend, which is based on Typical Prices, and you can shop as much as you want until you hit your limit.

Should I Try Beauty Pie? Honestly?

I personally love this service. But let’s talk about who it’s best for, in my opinion.

Are you someone who goes through body lotions and eye shadows and other products like crazy? Does your work require you to have the ability to try different looks and you don’t want to spend a ton on a new color cosmetics? Then Beauty Pie might be worth it.

Because it gives such amazing deals on products that are truly high quality, it’s going to be worth it for someone who’s a true beauty product fiend. The prices for palettes are as low as $9 (!!!), and high-quality skincare is so insanely priced too. So if you’re the kind of person who wants to try and doesn’t want to feel guilty for spending a ton, it’s definitely worth a try.

The $59 membership fee is what you would pay for one single high-end beauty product (although you do have to pay on top of that cost for the products themselves and the shipping), but as someone who loves trying new things, that was a low cost of admission to me.

Who might not find Beauty Pie useful? Well, if you’re a true beauty minimalist or find yourself happy sticking with your tried-and-trues, you might not get use out of this.

Also, if you’re someone who loves the experience of going into a store and swatching, sampling and smelling, this won’t be for you. You have to take a chance on the products here, and there’s no way to try them in person unless you’re buying.

The Best Beauty Pie Products to Try First

I’ve been a member for about three months now, and here are the standout products that I’ve tried.

Beauty Pie The One Palette Wonder in Cool

Member Price: $8.97

I use every single pan of this palette, which includes three eye shadows, one bronzer, one blush and one highlighter.

I’m not generally a highlighter person but I love the natural glow from this one. It does have a bit of “gleam,” so know that if you’re going to use it. It’s not over the top, but it’s a step above luminous. Perfect for photos or if you’re going to be on video.

As for the eye shadow colors, they make a gorgeous lightly smoky eye. Use the light shade all over, the grayish one in your crease, and line with the dark shade. So, so pretty. for extra drama, add a black liquid liner.

Beauty Pie Retinol Hand Cream Review

Member Price: $10.53

I’m religious about using retinol on my face to help combat fine lines, so I decided I’d better start paying attention to other parts of my body too.

Living in Florida, my hands get a ton of sun exposure. I use SPF regularly when driving or outside, and at night I restore my hands with this hand cream. It lives in my nightstand, and it’s the last thing I put on before reaching for my iPad for some reading.

If you haven’t started retinol on your hands, this is the perfect place to start!

Beauty Pie Jeju Daily Stem Cell Shot Moisture Serum

Member Price: $12.51

This is a lightweight facial serum for the days when you want your skin to feel seriously supple, without using a cream.

To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised at how soft this made my skin feel. I have a variety of hyaluronic acid serums that do the trick, but this one moisturizes a bit more. I think it’s the squalane in the formula.

Use it after cleansing or toning, and follow up with SPF for daytime, and if you want more moisture at night, you can layer a cream on top. I find I don’t need to when I use this, but if you’re feeling especially dry, this would layer really well.

The only thing I don’t love about this formula is that it has fragrance. It’s not a dealbreaker for me, but I prefer unscented when it’s an option. Just thought I’d include that bit of info for anyone who might be scent-sensitive!

Beauty Pie Everyday Great Skin Concealer Review

Member Price: $10.93

This is a product I got in my latest shipment and after my first use, I’m a fan.

This concealer has medium to full coverage, depending on how much you layer on. One sweep will give you medium-to-full—medium coverage if you have really dark circles like me, full if you have lighter ones.

The consistency is great. It’s not thick like Tarte’s Shape Tape, but it’s not runny or watery either. It strikes a great balance between coverage and a natural finish. It also dries down quickly and well. Some concealers tend to look dewy or tacky after application (Tarte Maracuja Concealer, I’m looking at you!), but this one dries down to matte. No need for any finishing powder!

As noted in the photo above, I got shade 600, Honey. I have light to medium skin with a noticeable golden/olive undertone, and this shade works really well for me. I’ve swatched it on my inner arm, below.

Beauty Pie Bahia de Mel Reed Diffuser Room Freshener Review

Oh my goodness, the smell of this product!

Describing scents is not my thing, but here are the notes Beauty Pie says are in this blend: Top notes of pressed basil and licorice milk; middle notes of balsam and honey; and base notes of red juniper, vanilla and musk. Just know that it adds up to magic.

I’m placing this in my closet and grabbing a couple more for the guest bathrooms around the house so they can smell great for visitors during the holiday.
