No doubt you’ve seen that one scary post your friend has shared on Facebook–the one where she feels she was followed by a strange person in a parking lot or store, and worried that person was tied somehow into a human trafficking ring.

It should come as a surprise to no one that massive amounts of watermelon and birthday cake do not mix well in any environment, especially if said environment is your toddler’s stomach, shortly before bedtime.

I was hysterically laughing when I came across this illustration by artist Chelsea Larsson, who clearly has the hilarity of many moms’ breast-pumping realities down pat, as well as just about every other wackadoo scenario that motherhood encompasses.

Aaah. The Birth Plan. I admittedly have a complex relationship with this whole concept, given that my first birth plan would have been better used as bird cage lining than anything resembling an actual, it-will-happen-this-way “Plan.”

Here we are again with Baby #3–firmly in the Curious Toddler Stage.

Remember that TV show “Kids Say the Darndest Things?” It was such a wild success because there has never been a truer statement about raising children.

This past Thursday I woke up at 6:30 between four pale pink walls, shivering underneath a paper-thin polka dot sheet, with Wedding Ariel (for beginners, that’s The Little Mermaid after she’s no longer a mermaid–#sellout) wedged between my hip and the mattress.

The kiddos started school last week (Bonus: I didn’t forget my daughter’s first day of school this year!), and we have all been adjusting to their new schedules and getting things ready for their new school years.

TL;DR: It’s about “Snapchat Dysmorphia,” a new term used to describe a condition in which people are beginning to expect–to want–ourselves to look as perfect IRL as we do on our Snapchat (or Instagram) filters.
